I put a "Michigan update" on my LJ, but I'm too lazy to cut/paste or write a new update for here. So go check it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday, August 26, 2005

A very quick update...

I leave home around 11am, Pacific Time, tomorrow. That's just over 15 hours from now! My family will be with me until Monday morning. We're visiting the Motherhouse Sunday afternoon, and I am very excited about that!!

From Monday morning through the following Monday morning (Labor Day), I'll be renting a car and so will have MUCH more freedom to do whatever! I'm so psyched about this! Anyhow, I can't wait to meet Tracy, help the Sisters, and etc.!! It will be a tough time, away from my family and friends at school, but I'm trusting that God wants me in Ann Arbor for those 11 days for a reason... and I'm gonna do all I can for Him in that time!!

Well, okay, that was longer than I intended. I have to go pack now... ugh. Never thought packing for the convent (and 13 days before) would be so difficult. I'm resorting to throwing things in bags. Organization has gone out the window.

God bless!! Blessed feast of King St. Louis IX!

Wednesday, August 24, 2005

Haha, continuation of my ridiculous posts...

For *all* those keeping up on my golf scores, I again beat Dad by 5 strokes for my best 9-hole-round EVER. WHOO! Way to end my golfing career! ;)

Current countdown stands at:
16 days 'til entrance
3 days 'til I leave!!!!!!!

Thursday, August 18, 2005

Sorry to say this will be another brainless post... go check out my LiveJournal for possibly more depth. ;)

I must clean up the house today, 'cause my godfather is coming down to play golf with me and dad this afternoon. Yay! I beat Dad by 9 strokes last week, after not playing for two years, so we'll see if my luck holds. Haha!

I've also got to write the vocation story in the next five days, write more emails and letters, and all that jazz. But life is good! God is good! Entrance is in 21 days!! I leave a week from tomorrow! Wow!!!!

God bless and Mary keep y'all!!!!

Saturday, August 13, 2005

To-Do List

- 8am Mass with Fr. Cihak tomorrow!
- Write up my vocation story so Sr. Joseph Andrew doesn't kill me upon her return from WYD.
- Reply to a million and ten emails waiting in my inbox
- Call friends from home and arrange to get together before I leave in 13 days.
- Get box ready to send to Maggie, former roommate from Christendom.
- Probably MUCH more! Hehe!

Thursday, August 11, 2005

Hey y'all! How's life? Blessed feast of St. Clare!

Things here are going well. Preparations for entrance (28 days and counting) are progressing nicely, though I've been a bit stuck of late. Just "little" things to get now, and I don't quite feel like going out and buying them. So they can wait. I've got 15 days left at home, at least.

Last night, I got together with three of my high school friends, two of whom are students at UD (Univ. of Dallas), and the other is here at Oregon State. Anyhow, it's always an amusing experience hanging out with them. It's just so strange to have them all in school or going back shortly, and me... well, I'm just going to the convent. That's all. :) I remember remarking to my mom earlier in the summer, the night that I really told my friends what God's plans seem to be for me... well, I told Mom that I was just kind of shocked at how little some of my friends seemed to know about religious life. I mean, these are good Catholic young women, perhaps not as alive in their faith as, say, some of my friends at school, but still. Then again, I reflect on where I was about two or three years ago -- I knew just as little as they. It was only by the grace of God that I had met Sr. Maximilian Marie six years ago and so had an "inside look" into religious life. And, of course, being in Oregon -- you DON'T find authentic religious life. And I think some of my friends are at the point that I was about four years ago -- I don't think the thought of authentic religious life has even crossed their minds because... they have no concept of it. They haven't MET the "real" religious, and that's a tragedy.

THAT'S another thing I love so much about the Sisters of Mary. Their vision is to spread authentic religious life throughout the country and everywhere, by starting new foundations. Because people NEED that presence, that witness of the eschaton... I always loved the term 'eschatological witness' -- a sign of our TRUE destiny (hopefully!), the possession of the Beatific Vision for all eternity. And that's what we want to do, as religious. To direct people's minds to God. We want to be like Mary, always pointing to her Son.

Tuesday, August 09, 2005

Hey y'all, just a late note on the feast of our holy father, St. Dominic........

The Sisters put up new pictures of the newly professed and new novices!!!!!!!!! Check them out!

Monday, August 08, 2005

Happy Feast of St. Dominic!

One month until entrance!!

Thursday, August 04, 2005

Just an update to say that, though this is old news, Entrance has been moved from August 28 to September 8. Our Lady's Birthday... in the Year of the Eucharist!! :) So, as disappointing as it is not to be entering in 24 days, I trust that Our Lord has His reasons. :) I leave Oregon in 22 days, though, and Entrance is in exactly five weeks!!!!!!!!!

Love and prayers! In Jesus and Mary!!
Carly

PS - You know, really, go check out my LiveJournal at http://www.livejournal.com/users/truckly57

Thursday, June 23, 2005

This is fascinating... I think it's hysterical that I have a xanga that I don't remember creating. So anyways, I was thinking that May 10 looks really long ago, and so I wanted to post yet again that if you really want to discover all about my crazy-fun life (yeah right) and random thoughts, I do encourage you to visit my livejournal at http://www.livejournal.com/users/truckly57 If you go to earlier entries, you'll find more serious, discernment-related posts, though I do admit that the more recent ones are silly and random. I am theoretically going to get back into posting a little more thoughtfully, but it remains to be seen whether or not that will really happen.

If you need more convincing to get you interested, here is a LITTLE about myself: I'm Carly, turned 20 almost two months ago (how time flies!), from Oregon. I have spent the past two years attending a very small, conservative Catholic college called Christendom, in N. Virginia. I loved it (most of the time), and the only reason I am not returning is that I believe God is calling me to dedicate my life to Him NOW as a religious sister in the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. So, entrance is August 28, just BARELY over two months away, and so life is crazy, fun, hectic, stressful, and just plain wonderful. I hope that gives y'all a good enough idea of me, and go visit my LJ and comment there!! (Comments make me feel loved, haha)

God bless you and Mary keep you!
